"THE HISTORY OF THIS COUNTRY IS FAR MORE COMPLEX THAN SIMPLY “MEAN WHITE PEOPLE STOLE LAND FROM UNSUSPECTING BLACK PEOPLE”..."
SOUTH AFRICA: THE GREAT WHITE HOPE?

Well it had to happen eventually. Last week president Donald Trump has set out a tweet about the plight of white South African farmers. The tweet currently has 135,000 likes, and over 45,000 for both retweets and comments. This is a topic that has been in vogue more and more recently in right wing circles, partly due to the efforts of Canadian journalist Lauren Southern, but also many others who have brought the epidemic of murders to attention. Of course the usual reaction from the usual circles exploded on twitter. “HE IS DEFLECTING FROM THE INVESTIGATIONS!” “THE WHITE HOUSE IS WHITE NATIONALIST” “TUCKER CARLSON IS CHANNELING STORMFRONT” Oh please, spare me. While I’m certain that many of Liberty Machine News’ readers are familiar with the situation in South Africa, I am going to begin with my usual historical recap.
South Africa is an ancient land, but for thousands of years it has been fairly barren compared to the rest of the African continent. While the Western Roman Empire was collapsing in Europe, Bantu-speaking tribes were moving south from what are now Botswana and Mozambique and committing their own cultural genocide against the Khosian-speaking tribes who were driven even further south. The first white men to set foot on South Africa were the Portuguese crew of explorer Bartolomeu Dias in 1487, at a time when the Xhosa and the Zulu were the two largest ethnic groups amongst the black African tribes. However it was the Dutch who began exploring the Cape of Africa in earnest in the mid-17th Century. In 1652, Dutch settlers and slaves from elsewhere in Africa and the Dutch East Indies established the settlement that would become Cape Town. Many of these “Boers” would migrate east and form alliances with the remaining Khosian-speaking tribes to fight the dominant Xhosa. It wasn’t until the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars that the British Empire would seize control of Cape Town and in the aftermath, they began sending their own settlers to South Africa. During this time period, the mighty Zulu king Shaka forged an empire through pitiless campaigns that may have killed over a million black Africans. More and more Boers also migrated east to escape British rule and found the South African Republic and the Orange Free State. But the British Empire continued to expand and fought a war that destroyed the Zulus as a regional power in 1879. The British fought two wars against the independent Boer Republics in 1880-1881 and 1899-1902. The Boers were fearless guerrilla fighters and knew the terrain much better than their British opponents. But the British army’s numbers, efficiency and ruthlessness eventually triumphed. In 1909, the Union of South Africa was created as an independent state that was nonetheless loyal to the British Crown.
As you can see, the history of this country is far more complex than simply “mean white people stole land from unsuspecting black people”. Prior to the Union, both white and black had spent more time fighting amongst their own races, and only occasionally trading blows with each other. This country has always been a fight for land. It was only after the Union that serious attempts were made to unite both English-speaking and Afrikaans-speaking whites and limit black control of the land. In 1931, the British government withdrew all official law-making powers in South Africa. While Boer animosity to Britain in some quarters remained high and expressed itself in pro-German stances during both World Wars, South Africa fought alongside Britain both times. Apartheid was established in 1948, a measure taken by the newly-elected National Party to deal with overcrowding, increased crime rates and fear of the political power of a black working class that had increased in population and proximity to white population centres. Most Boers viewed themselves as a group apart from both the English and the blacks and wanted their own separate ethnostate. Apartheid was a step in that direction that was intended to enforce separation through the prohibition of mixed-race marriages and the segregation of private homes and public utilities. It also restricted political power to whites. From the beginning Apartheid South Africa faced internal opposition from black African nationalists and outside opposition from most of the world, but in particular the Soviet Union and left-leaning movements and parties in Western states. South Africa eventually collapsed under the weight of international sanctions, war along its borders, and an internal terror campaign during the 1980s. Facing the whole world and the possibility of a domestic race war, Apartheid was officially dismantled between 1990-1991, and the African National Congress was elected in the 1994 elections.
According to many of our left-leaning friends, that is where the story ends. Any problems modern day South Africa is simply a legacy of Apartheid and the “Rainbow Nation” is bravely fighting forward into the future. In reality blacks and whites are just as out of work and impoverished now as ever. According to the leftist Guardian, 49 people were murdered per day in 2015 and South Africa has been dubbed the “rape capital of the world” due to an explosion in sexual violence in the past decade. Long-suppressed tribal gang violence has reared its bloody head. And to the dismay of liberal internationalists everywhere, anti-immigrant violence is committed by every “hue” of the “Rainbow Nation”. The white farmers who live in the country are under a perpetual state of siege. The murders by year are documented in an enclosed report, but the individual details of them that are enclosed in Southern’s documentary Farmlands and elsewhere are hardly surpassed in sheer cruelty. At this point some leftist reading this would point that black farmers and farmhands are targeted too, and that this is no different than the rest of South Africa’s epidemic violence. I challenge this assumption by suggesting they look at American author and journalist Colin Flaherty and his work on the “knockout game.” The “knockout game” is a form of violence that is practiced typically by African-American criminals on non-African-American victims. While the “knockout game” can certainly be done in an attempt to snag a wallet, prove oneself to a street gang, or for the personal rush; I found while reading Flaherty’s book Don’t Make the Black Kids Angry that a tribal reaction to having the “wrong” kind of person in one’s neighbourhood makes as much sense as any of the more mundane explanations. So I put it to the “nay-sayers” on farm attacks, while no doubt some of the farm attacks are motivated by money and thrills, in a country where the government seems hell-bent on land redistribution and where “Kill the Boer” is an actual political slogan; is it really that inconceivable for some of the farm murderers not justify their actions as racial “revenge”?
White South Africans have been fleeing the country since Apartheid ended. They have come to Australia, America, Canada, Europe and even Russia. They have few allies at home, Zulu King Goodwill Zwelithini being one of the few black South African leaders who has denounced farm murders and criticized the ANC government. But one tribal king cannot a people save. The Boers do indeed have many people looking at their plight, but for every voice raised in their sympathy, there appears another in condemnation. Having monitored twitter over the last week, the international left seems united in the principle of “to hell with these people” when it comes to the Boers. The SPLC and ADL have sounded the bell about the “dangerous myth of white genocide in South Africa”. Left-leaning journalists are telling their woke twitter followers to go and spread the gospel. “Those poor redneck dupes are being misinformed, we must correct their ignorance lest it reinforce systemic power imbalances!” Others seem to be comparing white South Africans to Syrians and Royhinga as an example of pure racism when it comes to whom rightists wish to accept as refugees. A particularly extreme minority seem to be celebrating the violence against the hated colonizers while also trying to deny that the violence is taking place.
To any left-winger who is reading this, yes there is a bias toward conservative white Christians as immigrants on the right. Why would there not be? For the average right-wing American it is about bringing in immigrants who will share your religious and ideological values and vote for the same people you do. For those who subscribe to ideas of pan-European brotherhood and white nationalism, the Boers are genetic kin, especially if one is German or Dutch. For others, it is a twinge of guilt that the West and in particular the English-speaking countries demonized the Boers and Rhodesia (which is a whole other article) only to watch those countries become failed states as soon as the “oppressed” took power. It may also surprise some to know that some Israeli Jews support the white South Africans, recognizing a common plight and the historically good relations between their two countries, although admittedly the leftist Jewish mob drowns them out. To a left-wing reader though I must add these hypothetical questions however. Do you not advocate for immigrants who vote for parties you support? Is it racist or betraying of the national interest if black American politicians advocate for blacks being sold in Libyan slave markets? If it is not, why is it different for American whites to advocate for whites being killed on South African farms?
Into this steps Donald Trump, the Caesarean president. Donald Trump knows what his supporters want, and it is not just tax cuts. He was elected to fight the culture war, and to push back against neo-Marxism both home and abroad. I am not a white ethno-nationalist in the purest sense, but I have come to believe in the historical concept of Christendom and European Civilization, which draws on the same cross-national allegiances. If I were born in 1915, I would probably view the Boers as riff-raff, dangerous raiders, and Jerry sympathizers. But seeing how the neo-Marxists behave the same way in London and Ottawa as they do in Johannesburg and their dislike of everything that is historically connected to Europe makes no distinction between Balt and Boer, every paleface with an attachment to his birth-culture has been forced to ally. The Boers must not be allowed to fade from history. It is a matter of principle to not let the Marxists throw a group of recalcitrant Dutchmen to the wolves for the crimes of their grandfathers and perhaps to admit to ourselves that we were wrong when we chastised ourselves for our historical sins. Perhaps Christendom is something worth fighting for after all. Perhaps on the blood soaked streets of South Africa and in the countless retweets of Trump’s twitter, a great white hope has been found.
